Science Benchmark and Study Guide

March 10 For A -block and March 11 for B-Block

Study Guide Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 will be the content that is covered on the 3rd quarter benchmark (25 questions)

1. Define Cell Cycle
2. Be able to tell what the cell is doing at each phase of the cell cycle. Be able to identify the pictures of the cell cycle.
3.What results from the cell cycle.
4. What is the difference between Mitosis and Meiosis
5. If you start with one cell how many cells would you have after 5 rounds of the cell division
6. What are sex cells and how many chromosomes do they have compared to body cells in humans
7. Where do we get how chromosomes from
8. define diploid 9. how much genetic material does the sperm and egg pass on to the offspring
10. what is a gene, what are chromosome, what is the relationship between the two. Where are chromosomes located in the cell.
11. define genotype, phenotype, heterozygous, homozygous, hybrid, purebred
12. make sure you understand how to use Punnett Squares and get the percentages
13. What is dominant, recessive (how do we represent them with letters)
14. What does DNA and RNA stand for and what are they, what shape are they
15. What is genetic material
16. What is Differentiation and stem cells
17. Why don't plant root cells have chloroplast
18. What is cellular respiration and photosynthesis I hope this will help you for the science benchmark- keep up the hard work
